San Antonio, Texas. – The North American Development Bank (NADB), Banco Santander, S.A., Banco Mercantil del Norte, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, Grupo Financiero Banorte as lenders, with the acknowledgement of EKF Danmarks Eksportkredit (EKF), as guarantor, has signed a loan agreement for the design, construction and operation of the 117-megawatts (MW) wind farm “Delaro, S.A.P.I. de C.V.”, located in the municipality of Reynosa, Tamaulipas. The project is sponsored by Thermion Energy Services, S.A.P.I. de C.V.
The project components include installation of approximately 27 wind turbines and construction of a substation to collect the energy. The electricity generated will be purchased by a group of commercial and industrial consumers pursuant to several long-term power purchase agreements.
Once in operation, the wind park is expected to generate approximately 475 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 64,634 households. As a result, it is expected to displace an estimated 250,325 metric tons/year of carbon dioxide (CO2), among other pollutants.
“We are pleased to participate as one of the senior lenders along with the other banks, in the financing of this project,” stated NADB Managing Director Calixto Mateos-Hanel. “We congratulate Thermion Energy for promoting this project that will not only help increase the capacity of renewable energy in Tamaulipas, but also create around 200 jobs during the construction phase.”
